Learn more about what speech pathology is and how we can support you and your child to achieve your goals.
What We Offer
Speech pathology supports children and adolescents to communicate effectively in everyday life. This includes how we speak, understand and use language, interact with others, learn at school, and participate in mealtimes.
At Shoreline Speech Pathology, we provide both assessment and therapy tailored to each individual’s strengths, needs, interests and goals to make functional changes day to day.
-
Assessment and therapy for understanding and using language, including vocabulary, sentence structure, and understanding instructions, to support learning and communication across settings.
-
Support for children and adolescents who have difficulty producing clear speech sounds, which can impact how easily they are understood by others.
-
Assessment and therapy for reading, spelling, and written language skills, supporting participation and success at school.
-
Support for developing social communication skills such as conversation, self-advocacy, perspective taking, problem solving and building relationships, using a neurodiversity affirming and strengths based approach.
-
Support for stuttering and other fluency differences, with a focus on confidence, self advocacy, and effective communication.
-
Support for children with feeding or mealtime challenges, focusing on positive, responsive, safe and family centred approaches.
What to expect
Initial Assessment
We listen and discuss your observations of your child’s communication.
We explore your child’s current communication skills and get to know your child through a combination of play-based and formal assessment to identify strengths and areas needing further support.
Collaborate on goals
While we know speech pathology, you know your child best.
By combining our professional knowledge with your lived experience, we work together to create meaningful, functional goals that truly matter to your child and family.
Therapy
Therapy is reliant on engagement, motivation, and connection for success.
We incorporate each child’s interests and strengths into evidence based therapy sessions, using fun, play, and meaningful activities to meet children where they are at and support engagement, build skills and confidence, and make genuine progress.
Ongoing Support
Your support doesn’t stop when our session ends.
We provide you with practical and realistic strategies and activities for home follow up between sessions to consolidate skills and support progress.
We check in and make sure you feel confident with supporting your child’s communication and development.
